Can I submit my answers on the paper answer sheet?

Paper answer sheets that were included with purchases of previous editions can still be submitted. However, replacements are not available. If you received one with a previous purchase and would prefer to submit the online assessment, please contact

Online assessments are available for ALL current editions.

Do I need to create an account in order to take the online assessment?
Yes, you will need an account to take the online assessment and to view or print your CME certificate. If you already have an ACOG account, please use your username and password to log in. If you do not have an ACOG account, you will need to create one. There is no fee associated with this account. You do not have to be an ACOG member to create an ACOG account.
The assessment is not loading correctly and/or some functionality does not appear to be working on my computer. What do I do?

When will eBooks be available?

To provide the best and most convenient way to purchase and access ACOG’s publications, ACOG eBooks are transitioning to a new ordering and fulfillment process. We expect eBook versions to be available in March 2020.

If I bought a PROLOG eBook before January 31, 2020, how do I access the eBook?

If you already own a PROLOG eBook, follow these instructions:

  1. Download and install Adobe Digital Editions from Adobe’s web page
  2. Create your own Adobe user ID directly in Digital Editions or follow this link. Retain your id and password as you'll need this each time you download a new eBook.
Additional Steps for Apple or Android new users:

  1. Open the App Store on your device
  2. Search for and install an application from the following list of digital editions supported devices and applications listed on Adobe’s site. If you’ve been using BlueFire, Pocketbook is a good, free alternative.
  3. In the app under Info, authorize using the Adobe ID you created in step 2 of the previous section.

Where is my code to access the online assessment?

The placement of this code varies according to which volume and edition you have. This will be consistent when all eighth edition volumes are released.

If you purchased the print volume(s) of PROLOG for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (Eighth Edition), Gynecology and Surgery (Eighth Edition), Obstetrics (Eighth Edition), Patient Management in the Office (Seventh Edition), or Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, your code can be found inside the front cover of the Critique books.

If you have purchased Gynecologic Oncology and Critical Care (Seventh Edition) or Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (Seventh Edition) after January 1, 2017, your code can be found on a sticker on the Critique book's cover.

If you purchased the seventh editions of Gynecologic Oncology and Critical Care and/or Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility before January 1, 2017, and want to take the online assessments instead of the paper answer sheet you were given at that time, please call 202-863-2405 or email Please have your paper answer sheet available when you call; you will need to give the PROLOG Registration code on that sheet to receive your online assessment for free.

If you purchased the eBook version of one of these volumes, you will need to purchase the online assessment separately for $25 (you can go to this link to purchase the assessment). After this purchase, you will be able to start the assessment online without entering a code.

You must purchase, submit, and pass the assessment Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Seventh Edition, before January 1, 2021, in order to earn CME credits for this volume.

My code does not work when I enter it. What should I do?

If your code does not allow access the online assessment, please confirm that you are using the correct code associated with your purchase. Likewise, if you have received a code over the phone or via email, confirm the code you are entering is for the correct volume and edition.

I bought the eBook. How do I take the assessment?
The eBook does not come with the online assessment. You will need to purchase the online assessment separately. If you have purchased the online assessment, go to Follow the instructions to take and submit the assessment for this unit. If you purchase the print book, the code will come inside the printed book that is shipped to you.

Taking the Online Assessment

Can I start the assessment now and finish it later?
Yes. You may begin taking the online assessment and submit it at any time. You may enter and leave the assessment as many times as you like. You can access your assessment from any computer, tablet, or smart phone. Please note that all assessments must be completed within 5 years from the publication date in order to be eligible for CME credit. The timeframe is listed in the Preface of the Critique book for each edition. You can also view the current CME schedule. You may begin taking the online assessment and submit it at any time within this timeframe.
How do I save my answers?
The assessment automatically saves all of your answers after the completion of each question. You will not lose any information even if you do not log out.
How many times can I retake the online assessment?
You may retake the online assessment as many times as needed to successfully complete the assessment with a passing score of 80% or higher. After you have successfully passed the assessment, you will not be able to retake the test. However, you will still have access to the answers.
I submitted the online assessment, but do not see the results.
To complete the assessment, you must hit the “Submit” button at the end of your assessment. You must also complete the short survey that follows the assessment in order to see your results.
If I did not receive a passing score and need to take the assessment again, will I have access to my previous answers?
If you take the assessment again, correct answers are pre-populated while previously selected incorrect choices will be cleared and marked “unanswered.” You may answer only the cleared, previously incorrect questions.
Am I able to see the questions I missed if I pass the assessment?
If you pass the assessment, you will be able to view all the answers you selected. Under the “Jump to Question” tab, you may jump to see all your correct and incorrect answers. The box for option(s) you incorrectly selected will be highlighted in red. The box for the correct answer will be highlighted in green.

CME Credit

When will I receive the exam results, CME credit, and certificate?
After submitting the assessment and filling out a brief survey, your test results will appear. If you pass (a score of 80% or higher), you will be granted access to a certificate that verifies the CME credits earned. You may opt to print the certificate, and it will be emailed to you. The CME credits will appear on your ACOG transcript within two weeks.
How long do I have to take the assessment?
You must complete the online assessment within five years of the PROLOG volume publication date in order to receive CME credit. Please note that all assessments must be completed within five years from the publication date in order to be eligible for CME credit. The timeframe is listed in the Preface of the Critique Book for each edition. You may begin taking the online assessment and submit it at any time within this timeframe.
Can someone else take the assessment using my account?
Only one individual can use an account. You must take the self-assessment in your name, using your account, in order to qualify for CME credits.
